PTO Prize Money
The PTO is significantly increasing the prize money across triathlon. We do this to ensure our amazing pro athletes are fairly rewarded for their athleticism, talent and unwavering dedication.
As an organisation co-owned by our athlete members, we have paid out millions of dollars to support professional triathletes, both through race prize purses and our end-of-year bonus pool, which rewards athletes based on their position in the PTO World Rankings. All prize money and bonuses are paid equally to women and men.
At the beginning of the Covid pandemic, we paid $2.5m from this bonus pool early to help PTO athletes survive with limited racing opportunities. In 2022 we introduced the PTO Tour, offering higher prize purses at each tour leg than virtually all annual world championships.
